Department of Pharmacy

INTRODUCTION

The Department of Pharmacy was established in 2010 under Decision No. 144/SYT-TCCB dated 15/11/2010 of the Tra Vinh Provincial Department of Health.

Functions:
- The Department of Pharmacy is a professional department under the direct leadership of the Hospital Director. It manages and advises the Hospital Director on all pharmaceutical activities in the hospital to ensure a full and timely supply of quality medicines, and provides advice on and supervises the safe and rational use of medicines.
Tasks:
- Planning and supplying medicines in sufficient quantity and quality for treatment and clinical trials to meet diagnostic, treatment and other medical needs (disease prevention and control, natural disasters, catastrophes).
- Managing and monitoring the receipt and dispensing of medicines for treatment needs and other urgent needs when required.
- Serving as the focal point for organizing and implementing the activities of the Drug and Therapeutics Committee.
- Storing medicines in accordance with the principles of “Good Storage Practice for medicines”.
- Carrying out clinical pharmacy work, providing drug information and advice on medicine use, participating in pharmacovigilance, and monitoring and reporting information on adverse drug reactions.
- Managing and monitoring compliance with pharmaceutical professional regulations in the hospital's departments
- Conducting scientific research and training, and serving as a practical training site for pharmacy universities, colleges and vocational schools.
- Coordinating with paraclinical and clinical departments to monitor, inspect, evaluate and supervise the safe and rational use of medicines, especially antibiotics, and to monitor antibiotic resistance in the hospital.
- Participating in lower-level facility support.
- Participating in consultations when requested.
- Participating in monitoring and managing medication expenditure.
- Managing the operations of the hospital pharmacy in accordance with regulations.
