Department of General Surgery

INTRODUCTION

The Department of General Surgery is the founding department of the surgical division, dating back to the establishment of the hospital. It specializes in the examination, diagnosis and treatment of conditions requiring surgical intervention across many fields, including gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary-pancreatic, urological, thyroid, breast, trauma and burns, benign and malignant tumors, and neurosurgery. After many years of hospital development, in April 2025 the Department of General Surgery officially took on an in-depth specialization in the surgical treatment of gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary and pancreatic diseases.

Beyond drug treatment, some gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary diseases require surgical intervention. Located on the 3rd floor of Block D of Tra Vinh General Hospital, the Department of General Surgery has 75 beds and is one of the hospital's leading surgical departments. The department continually improves its professional quality and is steadily deepening its expertise in the optimal treatment of digestive tract diseases, so as to remain a reliable source of health care for the community.
