INTRODUCTION
1. INTRODUCTION
The General Planning Department is a functional department under the direct leadership of the Director of Tra Vinh General Hospital. It advises, assists and coordinates professional activities throughout the hospital in accordance with the Hospital Regulations issued with Decision No. 1895/1997/QĐ-BYT dated 19/9/1997 of the Minister of Health.
The department is responsible for developing the activity plans of the departments; guiding implementation and monitoring work plans in line with the hospital's mission; directing and coordinating professional work among units; supervising compliance with professional regulations, evaluating plan performance and reporting to the Board of Directors.
In addition, the department compiles, analyzes and reports statistics on professional activities; manages, archives and makes use of medical records in accordance with regulations; organizes hospital-wide on-call duty; develops professional and technical development plans; periodically reviews treatment work; and prepares plans for the prevention of and response to natural disasters, catastrophes, epidemics and emergencies.
The General Planning Department also coordinates with units inside and outside the hospital on provincial outreach, international cooperation and technical support, and performs other tasks assigned by the Board of Directors. As a strategic advisory unit, the department plays an important role in the management and operation of Tra Vinh General Hospital, in improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, and in the hospital's sustainable development.
2. History
The General Planning Department was established in 1992, at the same time as Tra Vinh General Hospital (formerly Tra Vinh Provincial General Hospital), under the hospital's establishment plan.
Over more than 30 years of development, the department has consistently served as a strategic advisor to the Board of Directors in managing, operating and directing the hospital's professional activities. Alongside the hospital's growth, the department has continually modernized its management methods, expanded the use of information technology, implemented quality management and developed realistic plans, helping to improve operational efficiency and the quality of medical care.

- Standardize management processes and improve the quality of planning and health statistics.

- Continue to support the implementation and improvement of the Electronic Medical Record system.
